Discover Island Rangali

Island Rangali is one of the Maldives Islands, a group of 26 atolls stretching downward from India’s southern coast (for more information see  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maldives). This area has a magical-sounding name, the Laccadive Sea, and is truly the paradise of the Indian Ocean. This place has some of the most pristine, gorgeous scenery on the planet, seemingly worlds away from the hectic urban rush. Here, where Arab traders and Dutch colonialists sailed in former times, travelers can relax and enjoy one of the world’s last idyllic settings.

Rangali is very close to its sister island, Rangalifinolhu. In fact, travelers can literally walk from one island to the other across a footbridge, and both islands are the location of the Conrad Maldives Resort and Spa. This part of the Maldives is called the Alif Dhall Atoll, and today its beautiful, clear waters are a paradise for snorkelers ad divers. The local ecosphere is teeming with exotic plants and animals, and visitors love to take snorkeling safaris to see them. Turtles, manta rays, brilliantly-hued fish and living coral reefs are just a few of the things to see here.

For those who wish to see the local culture and taste some native produce, there are tours of a fishing village or a local market on neighboring islands. Here visitors can tour the gardens and sample the fruit grown there, picked fresh before their eyes.

The sea is one of the main attractions here, and there are many dolphin cruises, fishing trips and glass-bottomed boat rides available. Movie fans can see the latest hit films at the Starlight Cinema on the beach. There’s even a just-for-fun casino for those who feel like trying their luck.

Travelers can get a rare taste of the indigenous culture at the Bodu Beru demonstration. The name means Big Drums in Dhivehi, the language of the Maldives, and is a powerful display of music and dancing providing a glimpse of another time.

For the kids, the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort offers a program called Majaa, in which kids from three to 12 get involved in a series of indoor and outdoor activities led by the resort’s trained staff. There is even a kids’ spa program to help the participants unwind afterward.

Spa activities are popular, and there’s plenty for the grownup, too. The resort offers a holistic spa experience that combines fun and fitness in a program that is both enjoyable and invigorating.
